For those of us lucky enough to live in Beautiful BC, it shouldn’t be surprising that tourists flock to visit our province. With stunning natural beauty on our doorstep and the multicultural urban centres, there’s something for everyone here.
Our thriving tourism sector shows that our neighbours in Canada and around the world continue to choose B.C. as a destination of choice. In fact, between January and September this year, we hosted 4.5 million more overnight international visitors than we did for the same period in 2015.
We want to support this growth in tourism and the jobs it creates for British Columbians in our communities. That’s why, every year, our government invests about $98 million in the tourism sector across the province.
This year, we’re encouraging locals to #exploreBC with a “staycation” this holiday season by taking a closer look at what our communities and our province has to offer.
You’ll find no shortage of wonderful holiday options in and around Surrey to fill your time during the Christmas season.
I was pleased to see many of you come out and enjoy the Surrey Santa Parade right here in Cloverdale.
But even if you missed these fun community events, there’s still plenty of local activities and attractions to check out including the Bear Creek Park Christmas Train and the Stewart Farm House which has free Christmas activities from noon to 3:00 pm this Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 17-18).
