Helping Surrey Students Succeed

This week I am very excited about the announcement that School District 36 will receive over $7 million through the Learning Improvement Fund (LIT) and over $1 million through the BC Education Plan Fund. We all know that students are the future of our province, this funding shows that our government is taking the necessary steps to provide a learning environment that will ensure BC students flourish.

This is great news for students with special needs as a portion of the monies used from the Learning Improvement Fund will go towards hiring additional teachers and teaching assistants. This will help students with special needs succeed in the classroom.

BC education Plan Fund will work to develop programs that support students to develop strong reading skills. It is important that intervention takes place so that reading abilities are developed at an early age and the student does not have any chance to fall behind – after all reading skills are the foundation to continued success in school.

I am so excited for the benefits this funding will bring to our students.

Our government is dedicated to the students in BC and we want to ensure their continued success in our school system.
